UTAH: Canyonlands National Park

After we went to Dead Horse Point, we continued onto Canyonlands National Park. We got in free because it is off season and headed t o the campground which was also free (go now people!). The campground was just right by The Green River Overlook. We set up camp and it was already dark so we decided to eat our Little Ceasers dinner in our cute tent and play a game of Monopoly go (which I won!). We decided it was too early for bed so we should try taking some night photos. Neither of us have ever been as excited as when that first night photo with the tree came out. We got so excited that we figured we should go check out the view at The Green River Outlook and take some night photos there too. It was so beautiful.

Mesa Arch: The next morning we woke up early (5:00 am) and headed to Mesa Arch. There was only one other photographer in the parking lot but he was taking his sweet time so we started the short hike and had the place to ourselves for almost an hour. As other photographers started to show up we waited for the sun to come up. We met people from all over the world! After we got some good pictures, we decided to go pack up our campsite and cruise on some short hikes before heading home.

Upheaval Dome: Short and so easy hike but it is a really a cool site to see. You can hike all the way around the dome but we didn't have time for that today.

Grandview Overlook: Also short and easy hike. It is right on the side of the cliff so it is a fun hike. Not steep at all but had a great view.

Willow Flat Campground: Camp here! Because it is off season there were only maybe eight spots total that were filled but the spots are so nice and easily accessible. Plus it is so close to The Green River Overlook. We went there on our way out to see the view during the day. I also tried to learn how to drive stick there... but let's not talk about that.

Canyonlands is a beautiful park and in my opinion, is very underrated. It might be my new favorite. It had so many options for hiking, biking, jeeping, and so many other things. Going at this time of year was perfect for having the park virtually to ourselves. We will be coming back again soon!
