ARIZONA: Havasupai - Day 3
The next morning we woke up and packed up camp and headed on our way. We were pretty beat up from the previous days. We had a lot of blisters, cuts and scrapes from our chacos, the hike down, exploring. Our backs, necks, hips were sore. And Aaron had a nice sunburn to round it out. We bandaged ourselves up and figured we just had to push through as hard as we could to make it out. Despite the pain we made it out in 3.5 hours and were basically the first people out that day which were happy with! To be honest the hike out is rough. So rough. It you just keep moving then everything until the switchbacks isn’t too awful. But the switchbacks are literally the worst thing ever. We have done a lot of hiking and I swear I was barely making it up those things and had to just focus on getting one foot in front of the other haha. We tried to not stop but just keep slowly moving. I knew if I stopped, it was going to be rough to get back going again. Now it seems so dramatic but at the time I was not sure if I was making it or not haha. There were people coming down them so happy and excited and I just knew I looked so destroyed that it was probably scaring them. But we did make it out and it was worth it despite the struggle at the end. I would do it again any day.
