50 Miles

At the start of the year, I set a goal to bike 50 miles. Mid March I started my training with some indoor cycling which I thought would be equivalent to outdoor cycling (haha I knew nothing). Our first outdoor ride was 9 miles and easily felt the hardest of any of the rides we did :) I thought it would take me 25 minutes like my indoor 9 mile cycle and it took an hour... so that was fun.

Our first long ride was 20 miles. We went down to High Bridge state park and road on gravel which was crazy but super fun. Aaron had to literally push me like half the time but I did make it. We did most of the rest of our miles on the Virginia Capital Trail. Basically our second home at this point. We are lucky to have such a nice trail so close to our home.

I was planning on doing most of my training alone but then Aaron's school got canceled due to corona and I got lucky to have him do every single ride with me. I seriously couldn't have done it without him. He had to put up with me complaining, crying, telling him to leave me in the dust and other emotional shenanigans and he seriously did it with a smile and never got annoyed with me. What a true angel. He pushed me (literally and mentally) to go further and harder than I ever thought I could. So lucky to have a husband who helps me to reach my goals and pushes me to do more than I thought I could. Cheers to accomplishing our goals and chasing our dreams together.

From literally not having a helmet six weeks ago, we have come a long way :)
